At our dental office in Maple Ridge, your dentist can use non-invasive dental bonding as a cosmetic procedure to restore discoloured, decayed or damaged teeth.
What is Dental Bonding?
The aptly named, non-invasive cosmetic procedure called dental bonding has your dentist literally bond tooth-coloured composite resin to your tooth to match the surrounding natural teeth.
Our dentists most often use this procedure to repair chipped or discoloured teeth. That said, it can also be used to close gaps between teeth, to change their shape or colour or make them appear longer, making them appear more symmetrical.
The Bonding Procedure
Typically, dental bonding will require only one visit to your dentist's office and can usually be completed in 30 to 60 minutes per tooth.
To prepare your teeth for bonding, an etching solution will be applied to the tooth surface before the dentist applies a composite resin to match the colour of your teeth.
This composite resin is then molded into shape and hardened into place with a high-intensity curing light.
Benefits of Dental Bonding
Do you have a minor cosmetic dental issue, such as a discoloured, gapped or cracked tooth? We may be able to use dental bonding to help address it.
After your dentist has completed the procedure, your teeth will look natural, especially if the tooth being filled is visible when you smile.
Your teeth will also be strengthened by the composite, so you can enjoy meals without having to worry about applying too much pressure on your teeth and cracking or fracturing it again.
